I feel God working in my heart, shaping me along this journey to health, changing me, opening my eyes to see things on a grander scale than just little o' me. The other day my husband made a statement that I think I am still trying to grasp, he said "We know how to live without but that doesn't necessarily mean we know how to live in sacrifice."
I've lived without in a lot of different ways in my life. I've gone without the name brand shoes, the name brand clothing, I've gone without name brand cereals, and food, I've gone without food at times (very few I add.) I've gone without living in a house, I've gone without a car, I've gone without doctor visits, and I've gone without going out to eat...but none of those "with outs" really means that I've sacrificed. I asked my husband "How does one sacrifice if it seems like one has nothing to give..." His answer "We all have something to give."
We all have something to give.....
I must maul this over a little more....

I think that a positive sacrifice is giving up something precious for the greater good of others. The military, for example, sacrifices their freedom for ours. God sacrificed His son to pay for our sins.
I think that, as mothers, we generally sacrifice ourselves for our children. If there's any extra money at the end of the month, we tend to buy for them, before we buy for ourselves. If there is a food shortage, we'd feed them before we'd feed ourselves. We give them as much of our time possible...ending the time with minimal time spent on ourselves.
As far as weight loss goes, my motivation is sacrificing the things that I crave and love, to better my health so that my husband and children have me around for as long as possible.
Does that always work? :0( No. I'm selfish....but as your husband said, we all have something to give! The only way that we can give ourselves to Christ and to our families completely, is by letting go of these things that have falsely comforted us for so long.
And, sadly, there's nothing easy about it. I'm 32 and have struggled with a weight issue for ten years. In hindsight, I've negatively sacrificed my health for things that are destroying me.
Again, praying for you, pal! I hope you have a great rest of the week!
Thanks Christy, I agree with you the Christian walk really is a continual process of Matthew 16:24 and that plays out in so many ways in our lives. I am so glad that we don't have to walk in our own strength.
the above comment is actually from me, I was logged in my husbands account...LOL
:0) That's okay! And you're welcome! Can you imagine if we did have to to walk in our own strength? Yikes!
